The voicethread technology is very interesting. I think it is very involved. Elementary students will probably need extra help making one. I think they would like the finished product when they are done. There were a lot of things to figure out while trying to make the voicethread. First, it is not easy to get the pictures to your story onto the voicethread. I had to scan each picture and then upload each one. After doing that, it was time to add the voice to the voicethread. The microphone did not work with my computer so I had to find another computer to use. Trying to look at the pages and switch readers was tricky. It was hard for each person to start their part at the right time while trying to turn the pages. I was not sure how to add icons and I am still trying to figure it out. It is also a process to get the wiki on the voicethread which I am currently in the process of doing. I did not include my prompt or grade level to my voicethread pages. The grade level is Grade 4 and the prompt is: choose a character then write about the character falling asleep then waking up in each of the three regions of North Carolina(Coastal, Piedmont and Mountains). Tell what kinds of traditions they would see that would represent North Carolina heritage. I think for older students this would be a great tool. Younger students could do it if it were simplified. I think students would get excited if they knew their book would be online with a voice to it.
